A new passage way found

August 9, 2012

Today’s been a bit of a dry spell when it comes to spectacular artefacts, but feature wise we’re ecstatic! A line of boards has appeared in the southern end of our burned house, aliened with the previously mentioned large posts. The boards are too close to the surface to be floor boards, so we think they are part of the roof construction. They seem to be part of a passage way, maybe even marking the entrance tunnel to the house. Tomorrow we are opening up a new square to the east where the boards disappear into the trench wall, to see if we can determine if the house extends towards the sea as we think, or if the feature actually continues up on the tundra. Tomorrow we will have a much better grasp of the architecture of the house. How very exciting!
