Archaeology is all about dirt – looking for different coloured patterns of dirt on the excavated surface, screening dirt, sampling dirt… Dirt is so informative!

Ellen & Carly water screeningOver the past weeks have been transporting tons of dirt Edouard inspecting his dirtback to camp – buckets of dirt for fine screening in the village to find small fish bones and bags of dirt to bring back to the lab in Aberdeen for flotation to find plant macro fossils and insect remains. Today on our day off some of us have been taking care of the dirt – screening the bucket loads and packing the bags in coolers in preparation for the shipment. What exciting stories will it tell us?
