Preparing for Nunalleq 2014
July 22, 2014
Our team is already hard at work getting the field camp ready for the excavation crew which will start digging on July 28. Warren and his crew from Qanirtuuq, Inc. has set up a weatherport shelter which is a huge improvement over the canvas wall tent we used before. This year the wall tent will be used just for artifact processing while the shelter will be used for lunch and just getting out of the wind and rain. The weather has been beautiful, warm and dry all summer so the soil is a good deal lighter than usual. This important because we have a lot of backdirt to remove from last year’s unfinished squares before we begin excavating.
