Grey sky and grey clay

August 2, 2018

The last few days have been wet, cold and windy. The view from the ever growing spoil heap is grey – grey beach, grey sky, grey sea – and grey clay as more and more natural soil is exposed when the last cultural deposits are removed.

Natural grey clay emerging as Charlotta is removing the last house floor of the NE corner of the excavation block.

We no longer have the option of breaking for bad weather, as we need to finish this weekend – and the weather forecast is not promising, but we are slowly but surely moving towards finishing the excavation block once and for all.

Not even drawing can stop for the rain – We are very grateful for our tents sheltering out records, equipment and people (on break)…

Wish the weather was better for you to work in. You are a hearty crew to be out there finishing the job. Great photos. And thanks for the updates on your current finds. Great to see your progress.
